It all started with an egg. Andrew was bound and determined that he could hatch an egg that came from our refridgerator. We could not convince him otherwise. I was telling this story one day at the ELO park day. A friend felt sorry for him so she brought him 2 eggs to actually hatch. He has been taking such great care of them. IF they are to hatch, it will happen this week. Eric ran a call for a family that had chickens and told him it was a great way for the kids to be involved with 4-H and raise $$$. This got Eric to thinking. Why not raise some chickens? Um...ok. So he and the kids did the research, visited some people with chickens and got to work! We found out one of our storage buildings in the back actually used to be a chicken house. Eric has worked very hard on getting it ready. We have a few more things to get done but the chicks will not be outdoor for awhile. Here are some of the chicks...
We started with these 4 and they are huge now! We added 12 more but sadly lost one last night. They have been in their house but it has been so cold that we moved them in for the night. They will go right back out tomorrow! So pray our chickens grow strong and meaty and lay well!
