We started the month off with an arrival of 24 new chicks. It was actually more but we have lost some so we are down to 24. They are some kind of big chicken that can lay then can be killed for their meat. They were bred to replace the turkey so these suckers will be huge. I cannot stand chickens so this should be interesting.
The kids went on a field trip to the Salvation Army. They really enjoyed learning about this organization. Abi is still hoping to plan a can food drive for them because she knows how badly it's needed. What a blessing to live in a country that has organizations like this.
Here is our little WuTang Orphan. If you have seen 5 Dragon Daughter, you know what I am referring to. Abi is obsessed with this play and 3 of her very close friends played WuTang Orphans in the performance. If you get the opportunity to attend a performance, take it! It's wonderful! It's a play that one of our local churches wrote and it's very interesting.
Andrew made his Christmas gift, a squidy. It's the pet that does not have to be fed or watered and best of all, it will never die. But they forgot to mention getting lost. I have not seen Squidy in a while. Hmmm....
We had the opportunity to host a missionary family, the Huegel's, during our annual WOW weekend. This was our 4th time to host but our first time to host a couple near our age and that brought a child. We had a great time (we always do!) and loved getting to know them. Andrew had a fun time playing with their son Ben the entire weekend. We went to 2 field trips and a birthday party on Friday. On Saturday, the boys hung out then went to Game Stop and Bodacious. Sunday we hosted a luncheon to hear more about their ministry. They are stationed in Southeast Asia but are on furlough in Mexico (their home country and sending church location) for now. They hope to be back on the field in a year but are not sure what God holds for them. They have had multiple health issues and feel the attack of satan. But most of all, they know that God is fighting these battles for them. Pray for your missionaries people! If we think we are under attack, can you imagine how they feel?
Andrew, Abi & I went to play Putt-Putt one evening. It was so much fun! We also played a few games then met Chelsea for dinner at Applebee's. Eric was out of town at a conference so we treated ourselves to some fun too. But my sweet hubby surprised me the next weekend with a trip to Tyler to just relax. He's great! I don't have a picture of us (it's on Eric's phone) but we hiked 5 miles on Saturday! Anyways, here's the pictures of our putt-putt night!
Abi was able to participate in another homeschool Artsview performance class. She loved learning the history of Broadway and of course, she loved performing. The best part of the performance was hearing Abi sing her first solo! My camera died as soon as she started (of course it did) but she's doing a performance tomorrow for a group so I'm hoping to catch it then. The play was great to watch and I have to admit that the music is a lot of fun.
*sorry about the glare on her face. It's hard to take a picture in there.
Miss Grace had her first sleepover with us! Her mommy had a early doctor appointment so it was easier for her to spend the night. She was able to have Abi's birthday pancake breakfast with us. She did great and kept asking me if I could pick her up, not her mommy from MDO!
I came home one night from a girls night out and Abi had made me this cute little girl made out of twisties from the grocery store. Isn't it adorable?
