I have been burdened this year with making sure that Easter holds its meaning. We love the Easter egg hunts but I wanted to make sure that we do not lose focus. Yes, my kids are older but we still enjoy it! ;-) So instead of baskets this year, we are doing bags and the eggs will each represent a different place in the story of the Holy week. Here's what we are doing: (I can post this here because my kids do not read my blog!)
Some of the eggs will contain numbers and the others will be empty. I will give them leading questions and they have to answer to get the prizes.
#1-Judas agreed to betray Jesus for 30 silver coins. (give them 30 silver coins)
#2-At the last supper Jesus said His body was...(give them a small loaf of homemade bread)
#3-Jesus said His blood was the...(give them a bottle of grape juice)
#4-Judas betrayed Jesus with a ....(give them Hershey Kisses)
#5-Jesus was beat before being put on the cross (give them twizzlers to represent the rods He was beat with.)
#6-Jesus died on the...(give them homemade sugar cross cookies with red icing and lots of sprinkles. The red represents the blood He shed all the the sprinkles represent our sin)
#7-Jesus body was wrapped in linen cloths and placed in a tomb-give them the Reeses' eggs. They look a bit like it, right?!)
#8-The tomb was...(EMPTY!!! HE ROSE!! they will have a few of these and will get the "sweetness" that comes from His rising!! Some of their favorite candies!)
Just thougth I would share. Have a blessed Easter!! He is Risen!!!
