We left off with me seeing a picture.
This picture would have to really move me. I was not interested in looking for anyone at that point. I wanted to buckle down and focus on school. I had spent too much time looking for the "right one." It was too much work. If you remember I was holding out for Troy Aikman. It was proving too hard to meet him! Plus, all those concussions..I just didn't know how well of a conversationalist he would be. If only I had known I just need to quit looking!
Stacey and Jeff had been married about six months. I was at their house one evening watching a movie. Thank the Lord Jeff was the kind of husband that let his wife hang out with her sad single friends. Being there was bittersweet. I had hope that I would meet my someone but it was also sick seeing how in love they were! Stacey and Jeff had wanted to set me up with Jeff's "buddy" Eric for about 2 months. I kept saying,"nope! not going to happen!" Remember, I am re-focusing my life. (and all my friends chuckle!) Stacey showed me a picture of Eric and Chelsea. One of the reasons I had been so opposed to meeting him was that he was divorced. Even though I grew up in a divorced family that worked great together, I did not want to even think about the fact that my husband had loved someone before me. And I especially did not want to marry someone who had a child! Having 2 families is not bad, but you never really know where you belong. (until you grow up a bit and realize that you belong to both!) Well, Stacey showed me this picture and I feel instantly in love. The blond hair, blue eyes, and great smile just completely did me in. And she was even dressed cute! I bet you thought I was talking about Eric. But no. Chelsea won me over. She looked like the happiest little girl sitting next to her daddy in that picture. Two year olds can't fake happiness like that. I knew that he had to be a good man just because of his daughter's smile. I tried to overlook his many earrings, his tacky shirt, and goatee. He was not what I normally went for in looks but hey...there were not other guys knocking down my door! And what was the harm? I was re-focusing! I was going to be a college girl focusing on a career! This meeting would just be to meet someone that seemed nice. (but had an adorable daughter that I wanted to kidnap to belong to me!)
Our first meeting even shocked me...lights going out, lightening bolts, and 2 ex-boyfriends in the same night?!
