I am finally going to finish my "How I met my hubby" story! Sorry it took so long. We left off with Eric and I deciding to go on an official date.
Eric and I talked again on Valentines Day. (night) I actually finally worked up the nerve to call him. We talked for hours! ( I miss those days!) He told me that he wanted me to meet his daughter. His words were, "If she doesn't like you, there is no reason to continue this." Whoa! That was scary! We decided to drive to the Tyler Zoo the next weekend.
Eric picked me up that Saturday morning. I told my mom and sister to stay in the house! DO NOT COME OUT! At that age (21) if you introduce a guy to your parents, that's saying that someone is important to you. I had just met him. They did well and obeyed me. *smile* I remember walking up the car and Eric opening the back door to his truck. I remember catching my breath and realizing I was in love. I was completely taken with this beautiful, blue-eyed 2 year old. She smiled at me and stole my heart. (it was that same feeling of when they hold your baby up after delivery. Breathtaking!) I climbed in and we begin our trek to Tyler. Chels pulled my hair on the way up there just because she didn't know what to think of me. (and now that I know her more, she's a bit ornery!) I do not remember details of the zoo. I just remember feeling very comfortable with both of them. It just felt right. I remember smiling a lot and enjoying it very much. After the zoo we went to Posado's. Eric ordered Chelsea a taco with everything. I thought either she is an awesome eater or he just doesn't want to mess with taking everything off. Well, if you know Eric, it was the latter. When the food came, Chelsea declared she didn't want to eat the taco that had "eyeballs." (tomatoes) How adorable!
After that we headed the mall. Eric wanted to buy some earrings. (*sigh*) Chelsea and I stayed outside. ( I just couldn't handle the thought of him buying earrings) I was holding her and I told her to "fix" my hair for a party. She would fluff it and then we would "dance." We did this about forty times. I remember thinking, "This is what I was made for. To be a mommy." I felt so complete with Eric and Chelsea that day. We headed home after that. We took Hwy. 31 (which was the last time we ever took that road) and Eric and I talked all the way home. I remember looking at him and one point and I heard God whisper,"He's the one." I jolted a bit and Eric even asked if I was ok. It was not love at that point, just a knowing that it would grow into love.
When we got home, my mom and sister rushed out at soon as they saw us. They had to meet Eric and Chelsea. I wanted to die. I was so embarrassed! My mom told my aunt on the phone later that day "that Chelsea would make the cutest granddaughter ever." It's amazing what parents know before we tell them.
I do not remember much after that. Eric and I just became a couple after that. I remember seeing him every day and realizing I needed him and I was falling in love.
We became engaged in July and that's another wonderful story...
