I have about 2 minutes to update so here goes: The kids took the news of Hammy very well. I was actually surprised! Laura C. brought them home (she had watched them for the afternoon) with 2 bags of chocolate chip cookies! *sidenote-if you have never had Laura C.'s ccc, you are missing out! They are awesome!* The kids had known there was a possibility that Hammy and Sissy (the dog) were both out. They had both remembered on the way to the C.'s that they had not put Hammy's side door on and neither could remember putting Sissy up. We talked about it and prayed in the car. So at least they were not here when it happened and were a bit prepared.
When they walked through the door they both started asking for Hammy. I sat them down and told them what happened. Andrew cried for a bit and Abi smiled her "I'm sad but not sure how to show this emotion" smile (so much like Chelsea) while I hugged them. Sissy came into the room and Abi grabbed her right up and looked her in the eyes and said, "sissy, I forgive you." Andrew hugged her too and assured her he still loved her. It was so precious.(because we all know how Sissy was worried about this! Sissy was actually proud of herself for getting rid of Hammy. She showed me right where his remains were when I came in. Dogs.) I was very proud of how they handled things and that without any encouragement at all they forgave.
Abi's fish of 2 years also died last week so it was kind of a hard week for the kids. After Awana's on Sunday night I took them to Wendy's just because. I am normally not that nice after Awana's because it is too late but I just felt they needed something special because of how great they handled everything. I will say that Laura's ccc helped a lot that night! They put them in their ice cream and LOVED it. (as did their mom!)
When I have time I will upload some pics from my new camera. Yes, mommy lion, you heard right! ;-) Thanks for all the prayers for Chelsea. Her day went ok. Just please keep lifting her up because the world that she enters each day in that HS is not the HS we all went to. Have a great day!
My encouragement for the day:
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God! Psalm 42:11
