Hmmm....what to do, what to do?

We are still watching the weather in Destin pretty much every hour. The forecaast changes at about that speed. Our plans are to leave on Tuesday and eat lunch with my brother in Ruston, LA. From there we were going to Vicksburg, MS to see the Civil War monuments. Then on to Jackson, MS to spend the night. We will drive the rest of the way to Florida on Wednesday, with a stop in Mobile, Al to see the battleship and eat lunch. That should put us in Florida late afternoon. We are staying in Florida until Friday. We would love to come home along the coast through Gulf Shores, Baton Rouge, etc. Wouldn't it be great if I had friends in New Orleans and I could stay free with them for a night? I really want some benigh's. (is that spelled right? The french donuts!)

Here's the deal: Yesterday they were calling for sunshine the entire time we are there. Now they are saying chances of showers for Wednesday (30%) and Thursday(60%). There is a 20% chance of showers on Friday and Saturday. What to do, what to do? Eric said no decisions are made until Sunday. He actually wants to ban me from looking at the weather. ;-) Weather.com is saying that in Longview we only have a 50% chance of showers this weekend. But if you look at kltv.com they are saying it's going to be much worse. UGH! There is that part of me that says just go for it! You have the reservations, you can play on the beach between storms, it's not a hurricane, and you are going to have fun. There is the other part of me saying that's a lot of money to spend if there is rain the entire time. I am usually a fly by the seat kind of gal so I am leaning more toward the first alternative. We were in Galveston and it rained the entire time. The tent literally blew away and broke in the strong winds. We had to sleep in the car. But you know what? It was one of our best vacations. We bonded so much with all three kids and just made the best of it.

What do you think? What would you do in our situation? I am not asking you to decide our vacation, I just want to know if you are someone who would take the chance or would be cautious and stay home.

I would go and make the best of the situation. It's not like you are going to stay in a hurricane. Yes, you may have some rain -- oh well? You can enjoy the rain in Florida or East Texas...either way you will have rain. GO FOR IT!
