Did anyone catch the ABC special tonight on teen pregnancies? Longview was featured on it. Well, their virginity rules program and the 180 ministry in the mall. It talked about the different ways that communities deal with teenagers having sex. Basically, down here we do it right. We teach kids abstinence. My firm belief is that this is the only way. Talk to your kids, let them share with you. When they are old enough, show them a video of an abortion. Let them talk to a teen mom. See a teen mom give her sweet little one up for adoption. My parents did these things. They make a lasting impression. Those are the 3 choices you are faced with. None of them are fun. You may think that your child will never do that. You talk to them, you protect them, you do not give them the opportunity, blah, blah, blah. Believe me, if they want to have sex, they will. They will find some way to get out from your protection. Pray for your kids! Start at birth praying for their purity. Live by example. Do not watch television that is ok with that lifestyle. Do not wear clothing that shows off your body or buy it for your daughters. Teach your sons to respect girls and the rules that the girls parents set. You can still do all these things and you know what? They can still make the decision to have sex. What do you do then? You love them. You pray for them. Pray they will return to their first love, God.
Why do I type all this? Because as the parents of a 15 yr. old we are living it. We are talking, praying, talking, praying, and praying some more. It's a scary world out there. And just because you homeschool does not mean you are immune to it. I will go as far to say if you think that, you need to wake up! I am proud of Chelsea and from what I see, she makes good choices. Because she does not live here, we will never know every choice she makes. Heck, even if she did live here we wouldn't know all of them. It's a lesson in letting go and letting God. We as parents do what we are called to do and that's it. She must make her own choices.
I cannot stress enough: Talk to your kids and pray for your kids starting at an early age.
And if you think about it, let the Virginity Rules program know how much you appreciate what they are doing. You may have young children or kids that are at home, so you have no contact with them. So what? Your kids will at one point in time come in contact with someone they have spoken to. It may even be their future spouse. Just somthing to think about....
This public service announcement was brought to you by Aimee. Thank you.
*I tried to upload video & pics last night and it just would not cooperate. I have lots to show. Abi's play, medieval times, Hot Springs, etc. The kids will be gone for the next 2 nights (sniff, sniff. I told Eric he will have to learn to juggle so I will have something to watch. I am so bored without them!) so maybe I will get it done then.

I THINK THAT THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE EVEN STARTED THIS SEASON. I LOVE THE SHOW BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A BREAK AND WORKED ON THEIR MARRIAGE. I LOVE HOW JON TELLS EVERYONE HE QUIT HIS JOB BUT HE WAS ACTUALLY FIRED. I DON'T THINK THE GOVENMENT SHOULD STEP IN SAYING IT'S CHILD ABUSE OR WHATEVER... THE DUGGARS ARE STILL ON THE AIR. IF THEY CANCEL THIS SHOW BECAUSE OF CHILD LABOR LAWS YOU WOULD THINK THAT LITTLE PEOPLE SHOW AND ALL THE OTHERS WOULD BE CANCELLED TOO.
thanks for the sweet reminder that it's never to early to pray for the big issues to come...by the way, have you ever read 5 Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter? highly recommend it!!
Preach it, Sister! Amen and Amen.
