Hot Springs

*First of all, I am very sorry to the aunts and uncles who have waited so patiently on video from Abi's play. I am so sorry it will not load. I will keep trying!

2 weekends ago I decided to surprise the kids and Eric with a weekend vacation. My original idea was to stay here and so some fun stuff. Well, the kids were going crazy with ideas about where we were going, the beach, Arizona, Colorado. I started to get a bit nervous. Our kids take after us and like to travel. So I got online and found a room in Hot Springs, AR for a very good price. If we made all of our meals, we could do it! The night before we left, I finally told them. They were just dying to know. They were so excited when they found out! We went to eat Chinese Food that night to start our vacation. Unfortunately, it did not agree with Eric. He was up all night sick. But praise the Lord! He felt better in the morning! We headed out around 6:00 (Chelsea's idea!!) and got there around 10'ish. We toured a bath house and then met some people for lunch. This completely threw the kids off because who in the world do we know in Hot Springs?

Well, these fun people were there also! We had a fun lunch, looked at the view,

then ran for the A/C. We decided to visit the Mid American Science museum after that mainly because they have A/C.

After that, we found our hotel. Funny story...we took a wrong turn unknowingly when we left the museum and ended up in front of the hotel. Had we gone the original way, it would have been a 30 minute drive. It was 5! Awesome! The kids just wanted to hang out in the pool(s) that evening. We ate our fajitas and played games.

The next morning we ate our (free! surprise to me!) breakfast and packed up. We did a bit of shopping and ate at a Hamburger joint. Loooong 45 minute wait, but very good. We walked back outside and found an ice cream shop. Yes, it was that hot. We had planned on hiking to a waterfall but just could not imagine doing that in the heat. So we headed to Caddo River. We rented some tubes and just played for 2 hours. It was so fun. I have no pics of that (I didn't want to leave my camera just lying around) but it was wonderful. We headed home after that, polishing off the rest of our junk food. ;-)

It was a great weekend! Our kids are great travelers and really appreciate everything we do. It's amazing to me that all that really matters is they just want to be together and relax. They like to go, but are happy just staying at the hotel swimming. Disney Channel makes them very happy! Chelsea amazed us because she did not want to shop, eat out, etc. She wanted to do activities, no tv, and talk. WOW!
