Emily blindfolded Christopher and brought him out to our campsite around 6 Friday evening. Christopher does not like surprises so I think he drove Emily crazy with his questions. But he never did peak! We all got around his door, which Emily had locked from the outside, and yelled, "Surprise!" I honestly think we got him!! He was excited to see us which is always a good thing. Eric made us some awesome burgers for dinner and we just spent time hanging out around the campfire, mainly playing the m&m game. If you go camping, this is a must game!
Saturday morning started with Andrew exclaiming "Dad, wake up! You have to see this sunrise!" So he and Eric headed out with the camera and their fishing gear.
One of his catches. Yep, he's wearing p.j's!
We just hung out for the rest of the day, fishing, riding bikes, and playing games.
Christopher had a fraternity meeting until 5:30 so he and Emily joined us then. We had another surprise in order for Christopher that night. They arrived and after we greeted him, about 20 of his fraternity buddies jumped out and yelled surprise! We roasted hot dogs for dinner and Emily, the sweetheart, had baked 2 cakes. We enjoyed getting to know all of his friends. I love Emily's roommate, Jenny. She was hysterical! When you put her and Christopher's roommate together, well, you are rolling with laughter! They stayed later than everyone else and hung out around the fire playing family games with us. Pretty good sports I would say!
Singin' Happy Birthday! It was funny because his friends call him Chris and we still (and always will) call him Christopher. So when the "Dear..." came up it was hysterical!
Sunday was just another lazy day around camp. Christopher and Emily spent the night so we were all together that day. (in separate beds! Which made for a funny conversation between Abi, Emily and I!) We had a late breakfast then had some steaks, baked potatoes and salad around 4. We had (another!) cake for Christopher and he opened his gifts. We loaded up and we went to see Christopher's on campus apartment quickly. We also had the chance to meet his 2 other roommates.
Proof for Chelsea that Emily exists! We showed Emily a picture of Chels to prove that she exists. They haven't met yet but we are hoping to meet in Shreveport one day so they can.
I was looking mighty spiffy. Why do I thrust my hip out? It's wide enough!
All in all, a great weekend! Lake D'Arbonne is a wonderful state park. The campsites are great, the bathrooms are the cleanest we have ever seen, the lake has great fishing and it's pretty, they have a great playground and a pool during the summer. We will visit there again! I will also like to say that my hubby is wonderful! He did all the cooking this weekend and it was great! I will leave you with the image of Andrew's fried worm. Yep, he really cooked it.
Enjoy your spring break!!
