Lobsters, Crabs & Raccoons! Oh My!

Andrew has a trap set at his Grandma Pat's house. He has wanted to catch a raccoon or a bunny. He finally got a raccoon! He was so excited! Eric brought it home to show him because he wasn't allowed to go out there that evening due to a disciplinary issue. All the kids were fascinated by this creature. They were scared to death of it when they started putting sticks in there and it hissed and clawed at them. Our dog, Sophie, did not care for it at all. He caught another one 3 days later and when it came to our house, Sophie barked at it all night long. Andrew was a bit sad once he realized that the people he promised to give the coon to were going to kill it. We reassured him that they were really, honestly going to eat it. (ew) When they skinned the second one, they let Andrew have the skin. It's pretty gross. It's just sitting outside collecting bugs. (double ew)

In Andrew's ELO class (which I have the priviledge of helping in!) we are studying Sea Creatures of the 5th Day. Last week we had 2 lobsters, 2 hermit crabs, a shrimp, and 2 land crabs join our class. All alive! We had a great time. We wanted to raise the hermit crabs but that didn't work so well. So we just watched them and looked over them. They were pretty fascinating.

One of the big lobsters. We wanted them to fight but we (the teachers) were to scared to unfasten their claws!
