Tonight we played Family Trivia Pursuit. We asked our daughter Abi, who is 8, the question: "Who in history is known as "Honest Abe?" Now mind you, we have read at least 4 books about this man and have studied the Civil War. Her answers? Abi (What?!) and George Washington. This was after the hint that Abe was in his name. We asked our son Andrew, who is 10, what memorial in Washington D.C. has famous words from the Gettysburg Address inscribed on it. We told him many hints such as, "He was the 16th President" and "He walked in your favorite movie Night at the Museum!" We also talked in detail about what a memorial was. He answer? Mt. Vernon. ~sigh~
As the game was nearing an end, mainly because I wanted to break down in tears, we asked Abi what time it was. She looked at our clock and declared it was 8:80.
I may fire myself.
Linna, are you sure you want my advice on home schooling?

At least Abi named a President, and Andrew named a National Monument!
You are hilarious! I would not have known those things either :)
You are too funny! I agree though a least they got half of the answer right.
That is hilarious! I'm sure Abi said herself because it sounds like Abe--see, she's thinking! :-)
