Swim Time Trials

Today Andrew, Abi, Nini, and I drove to Lufkin for Andrew's first time trials. This will determine where he will swim for the rest of the summer during meets. It will also help him to have a better understanding of what times he needs to beat. We left early (6:00 a.m) and arrived to set up "camp." We were not sure what to expect because none of us have ever been to a swim meet. Andrew was extremely nervous for several reasons-1)This was his first meet 2) He had to swim without a shirt 3)He had to wear his swim cap and jammers. But he did great!! After the first heat that he did, he had a great time! He actually had fun! That is what we were hoping for.

His times were:
Free-Style: 19.71
Backstroke: 26.36
Breaststroke: 33.80

We were very proud of him! His next meet is this Saturday at LU-Solheim Center. If you are in town, you should come by and check it out. We love swim and all that it provides. The coaches work hard with the kids and encourage them in so many ways. The parents are great about offering encouragement to and helping us "newbies" out.

And the biggest surprise: My cousin Holli was there with her family along with my aunt! We were shocked to see each other! It's been a year since we have seen each other and just could not believe it. I miss her like crazy and wish that we saw each other more. Notice we are both representin' our kids!
