Remy

We have a foreign exchange student from France staying with us for 3 weeks. It's crazy how God worked all this out. On Monday of last week I was talking to Eric and we decided to start praying about pursuing adoption on an older child and/or the foreign exchange student program. On Tuesday I wrapped up a Bible study with some friends (btw, LOVED IT you guys! Thanks for the invite!!) over the book of Ruth. We were asked to share what is something that touched us from this book. I shared that I was very impressed with how Ruth was at first a foreigner, did not claim "our" God, yet she embraced His ways immediately and is in the lineage of Jesus. This made a big impression on me. I shared what Eric and I started praying and one of the women asked me if we wanted a French student. I said to send me the info. The pastor of her church called the next day (Wednesday) at lunch, he came over at 1 and met Eric and we picked Remy up on Thursday night at 10:00. Our God is so good! Remy is a great kid. He has wonderful manners, he is extremely polite, very likeable and the best part, he puts up with all my 1,000 questions.

Some of the best questions I have heard people ask Remy:
1. Do you have computers in France?
2. Do you have cell phones in France?
3. Do you text in French?
4. Facebook is in French?
5. Do you have a Chick-Fil-A in France? (this is a big one from the teens)

Some things that Remy has found curious in the U.S.A:
1. We eat between meals-I tried to explain it's not all the time.
2. The coupon dispensers at Kroger
3. All the reading material he can get a hold of
4. Eric's guns and trying to get one into France. ~sigh~
5. The loudness of American's
6. How many people come to and from our house.
7. D-our neighbor

We have taken him to church, Sam's, Walmart, Lowe's, LeTourneau University, Chuck E Cheese, the mall, Double Dave's and bowling to meet other teens, had some boys over to play video games,to get blizzards and taught him to play Phase 10 and Apples to Apples. He has gone to a Rangers game, the JFK museum, shopping in Dallas, and is at a rodeo right now in Mesquite with his group. This has been a great experience for our family so far. We are already sad thinking about him leaving! Abi is planning on visiting him in France one day. ;-)

Here are some pictures of Remy. The captions will explain.

Learning how to play Phase 10 with our neighbors. D is in this picture, thankfully not playing his guitar and singing his Remy song. ;-)
