Abi recently questioned if she was saved over a very busy family filled lunch. I did not have time to really address the issue right then so I asked her about it that night. Here is our conversation..
Mom: "Abi, do you know what "being saved" means?"
Abi: "Yes, so & so told me that she was saved when she choked on a piece of chicken and her sister saved her. I have never choked on chicken so I must not be saved."
Mom:(trying not to grin) "well, that is one way to use the word saved but when you are referring to it in the Biblical sense, you are referring to being saved from hell. It's the same as saying you are a Christian and you have invited Jesus into your heart."
Abi: "Oooooh! Well. I have already done that. I am saved".
While visiting with my 2 1/2 yr. old nephew, Nathan, during lunch today I asked him about his Bible story over "Noses."
Aunt Aimee: "Nathan, did you learn about "Noses" today?"
Nathan: "Yeah!" (very excited voice)
Aunt Aimee: "and did "Noses" see a burning bush?"
Nathan: "Yeah!" (still excited)
Aunt Aimee: "and Who was in the burning bush?"
Nathan: "A baby!"
Hey, at least he knows that the story of "Noses" is about a baby and a burning bush! That's more than most adults know!
