How I met my hubby...Deciding who/what to pursue

Thank the Lord for redemption! I desperately needed it after meeting Eric! As you read, I was not myself on our first meeting. I am forever thankful that Eric saw me for who I really was. We left off with me thinking that Eric was not what I thought I always wanted. (what kind of sentence is that?!)

After I met Eric, I tried to not think about him. But I just couldn't help it. After 3 days with no phone call, I was a little miffed! How come he wasn't calling me? Was I not good enough for him? Jeff gave him a call and informed him that I was at home, you know, just in case he wanted to talk to me. Eric still laughs about that. He called but when he did, I was in the middle of doing a big paper for one of my classes. I told him I would have to call him back. He has still not let me live that down. A friend was over at the time helping me with my paper. She was not too happy about me dating Eric. I had been friends with her and her then-boyfriend (now hubby) for about 7 years. We were neighbors and we all attended church together. She could not believe that I would date a guy that had been married and worst of all, had a child! She and her boyfriend decided to set me up with someone who was just right for me. I thought, "why not?" It was so funny to me that now I was focusing on school, I was getting all these dates. But I did call Eric back that night. We talked for 2 hours! The conversation was wonderful! We had so much to say to each other! There were no awkward pauses, just good conversation.

I went with my friend and we met up with her boyfriend at his college dorms. They introduced me to the "perfect one for me." And you know what? He was what I looked for. He was tall, athletic, and a Christian. He was funny and said all the right things. He was on a career path that would bring him financial success. We got along nicely that night and had a good time just talking.

Later that week, I was with my single gal friends and we decided to have a "slumber party!" lol We were such dorks! While there, we called Stacey and begged her to come. She was newly married and a bit above that. ;-) She mentioned that Eric had shaved his goatee. This was very big news. I had mentioned to them that his goatee was a turn off for me. (which is so funny now because if he shaved it, I would beat him! which he would probably enjoy too much! TMI!) They told him that and it was gone. He denied that this was the reason but we all know the truth! After we got off the phone, my friends boyfriend called me. He told me that the "perfect one for me" wanted to go out. Her boyfriend continuously belittled Eric, saying I was better than that, how could I go out with someone with earrings?, all kinds of things. And the "perfect one for me" agreed with all of this. Wow! To me, this was decision time.

I decided it was time to let go of what I thought was perfect for me and take a chance. Maybe I needed to let Someone else guide! So Eric and I decided to go on an actual date....
